The best time to go to Tanzania is during the dry season, from June to October. Tanzania has two rainy seasons: the long rains from April to May and the short rains from November to December.

Animals are easier to spot during the dry season and the Great Migration happens in June and July.

Tanzania is one of the best countries to visit to see an abundance of wildlife. Several game parks, including the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, are home to the Big Five: lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalo and elephants. You can also expect to see wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, a variety of monkey species, reptiles, hyenas, cheetahs and hippos.

Light, neutral-coloured clothing is best for blending into the environment and not attracting insects. Game drives can be long, so it’s important that your clothes are comfortable. Some of our Amira Africa safaris start early in the morning when temperatures are cooler, so a light jacket is recommended too.

You’ll also need to bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

Absolutely. You can visit multiple parks in all of our week-long safaris. In fact, we have specifically combined different parks to give our customers the most varied and thrilling Tanzanian safari experience.

At Amira Africa, we’ve partnered with luxury hotels that will offer you authentic Tanzanian hospitality and deluxe comfort. Whether you choose our Classic, Signature or Prestige safari packages, you’ll be staying in luxury hotels and exclusive boutique camps that exude style and exclusivity.

Our safari tours range from 5-7 days, the perfect length of time to experience the wild African plains, see plenty of incredible animals and relax. Of course, we’re happy to extend your safari experience and make it bespoke to you and your family.

We can also combine all our safari tours with a beach holiday to one of the nearby Tanzanian islands, such as Zanzibar, Mafia Island or Pemba Island.

Tanzania is a very safe country and one of the world’s most established safari destinations. It’s important to go with experienced and trustworthy guides who are trained and knowledgeable about local terrain and wildlife. You should always follow their rules to ensure that you respect the animals in their habitat and stay safe.

You need to receive all necessary vaccinations before arriving in Tanzania. Depending on where you’re travelling from, these can include yellow fever, typhoid, rabies, hepatitis a and b, and tetanus. Your health care provider may also recommend malaria tablets and you should bring plenty of mosquito repellent.

This really depends on the tour operator. At Amira Africa, our bespoke safaris are designed to be family-friendly, however, they may not be suitable for very young children or the elderly. Whilst exciting and very comfortable, game drives can be long, which small children may find difficult.

If you have concerns about the age of your family members and them going on safari, feel free to reach out to our team with your questions.

Citizens of most countries, including the UAE, USA, UK, Canada and many European countries require a visa to enter Tanzania. A tourist visa covers stays of less than 30 days and is most common for those arriving for safari.

There are two ways of getting a visa for Tanzania:

  • On Arrival. You can obtain these visas at international airports in Tanzania and most border crossings. You need to pay USD 50.
  • E-Visa. You can also apply for an E-Visa before you travel. Submit your application online and receive your visa electronically which can help avoid delays when you arrive.
